Makerspace Name

Your makerspace name is shown across MakerVera: in the header, on your public pages and in the emails your members receive. Account Owners can change it at any time.

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > General.
  2. Edit Makerspace Name.
  3. Click Save Settings.

Only Account Owners can change the name.

To keep MakerVera safe and trustworthy for everyone, some names can’t be used for a makerspace:

Kind of nameExamples
Names MakerVera needs for its own serviceswww, api, admin, status (web addresses only)
Names that could be mistaken for MakerVera or an official email contactAnything containing “MakerVera”, postmaster, noreply
Offensive namesProfanity and slurs in English, Spanish and French

MakerVera treats look-alike spellings the same way, so swapping letters for similar-looking characters, numbers or symbols, or adding spaces or dashes between letters, doesn’t get around these rules. Neither does stretching a word by repeating its letters.

Names are checked only when you change them. If your current name was saved before a rule was added, it stays as it is, and saving other settings never re-checks it.

If You See “This name isn’t available”

Section titled “If You See “This name isn’t available””

When a new name can’t be used, the message This name isn’t available appears under the Makerspace Name field and your current name stays saved. For privacy and safety, MakerVera doesn’t say which part of the name was the problem.

Try a different name, or a variation that doesn’t include the blocked word.

If You See “Name changes are temporarily unavailable”

Section titled “If You See “Name changes are temporarily unavailable””

Once in a while MakerVera can’t check new names for a short time. If you change your makerspace name then, the message Name changes are temporarily unavailable. Try again later. appears under the Makerspace Name field, and nothing is saved.

  • Your current name stays as it is and keeps working everywhere.
  • You can still save your other settings: change the name back to your current one, then click Save Settings.
  • Try the new name again later. If the message is still there after a while, contact support@makervera.com.

MakerVera supports makers, artists and artistic expression. The Content & Expression Policy explains who is responsible for content on makerspace pages, what isn’t allowed, and how anyone can report content. It is linked in the Legal section of the site footer.

The name won’t save and there’s no message under the field
