Your Sign-In Email
Your MakerVera account is tied to the email address you signed up with. You use it to sign in, to reset your password, and to receive messages from every makerspace you belong to.
Your sign-in email can’t be changed
Section titled “Your sign-in email can’t be changed”Once your account exists, its email address stays the same. Nobody can change it: not you, not your makerspace’s admins and not MakerVera support.
This protects your account. Your one account can belong to several makerspaces. If an email address could be changed, someone with admin rights at one makerspace could point your account at an address they control and take it over, including your access to every other makerspace you’ve joined.
If you need to use a different email address
Section titled “If you need to use a different email address”If you lose access to your email address, or want messages to go somewhere else:
- Forward your old address, if you still have access to it. Most email providers can forward incoming mail to another address, so you keep getting messages and password reset codes.
- Or create a new account with the new address on your makerspace’s sign-up page, then ask your makerspace to set it up the way your old one was (membership, certifications and so on). See Create Your Account.
For makerspace admins
Section titled “For makerspace admins”You can’t change a member’s sign-in email from their profile, and the email address on a member’s account can’t be edited. If a member has a new address:
- Ask them to forward their old address, or
- Have them create a new account with the new address, then give that account the same membership and access as the old one. Deactivate the old account when you’re done.
Deleting a member’s account at your makerspace removes them from your makerspace only. If they also belong to other makerspaces, their sign-in keeps working there, with the same email address and password. Their sign-in is closed only when no makerspace has an account for them any more.
If a message to a member failed because their email bounced, the Communications history explains the problem. The member’s address can’t be corrected in place; use one of the options above.
