Your Address & Checkout

When you buy something that’s subject to sales tax — a membership, a subscription, a store item, or an event registration — MakerVera needs a complete address on file to calculate the right tax. You enter it once on your profile and it’s reused at every checkout, so you’re never asked twice.

Tax is calculated based on where you are. If your profile is missing part of your address, MakerVera lets you know before you reach the payment screen, instead of letting the payment fail at the last step. You’ll see a short notice with a link straight to your profile, and the checkout button stays disabled until your address is complete.

Your address is complete when it includes:

FieldRequired?
Street addressYes
CityYes
ZIP / postal codeYes
CountryYes
State / province / regionOnly where your country uses one

You can fill these in on your Profile page at any time — you don’t have to wait until you’re mid-checkout.

  1. Open your Profile from the account menu.
  2. Choose Edit profile.
  3. Fill in your street, city, ZIP / postal code, and pick your country from the list. Add your state or region if your country uses one.
  4. Save. The next time you check out, your address is already there.

If you’re making a donation — especially without an account — you’ll enter your address right on the payment screen instead of on a profile. There’s nothing to set up ahead of time.

The checkout button is greyed out and there’s an “address required” notice. Your profile address is incomplete. Click the link in the notice (or open your Profile and choose Edit profile), fill in the missing fields, and save. The button enables as soon as your address is complete.

I’m told tax isn’t set up for this makerspace. This one isn’t something you can fix — your makerspace’s payment account isn’t configured for automatic tax yet. Reach out to the makerspace and let them know; an admin can resolve it from their billing settings.

I added my address but checkout still won’t proceed. Make sure every required field is filled and your country is selected from the dropdown. If you typed a country name into a free-text box on an older profile, re-select it from the list so it’s saved in the standard format.
