Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Section titled “General Questions”What’s the difference between an Event and a Class?
Section titled “What’s the difference between an Event and a Class?”Events are general workshops, activities, or gatherings. They don’t require a designated instructor.
Classes are structured learning experiences that require an assigned instructor. Classes often have prerequisites and lead to certifications.
What’s the difference between single-session and multi-session?
Section titled “What’s the difference between single-session and multi-session?”Single-session events happen once at a specific date and time. You register for that one occurrence.
Multi-session courses meet multiple times (like a weekly class for 4 weeks). You register for a “cohort” which enrolls you in all the sessions at once.
What is a cohort?
Section titled “What is a cohort?”A cohort is a specific offering of a multi-session course. Think of it like a “section” of a college class.
For example, “Intro to Woodworking” might have two cohorts:
- “Spring - Tuesday Evenings”
- “Spring - Saturday Mornings”
Each cohort has its own schedule, and when you register, you join that specific group.

Will I be notified before my event?

What happens to the sessions when I cancel a cohort?
Section titled “What happens to the sessions when I cancel a cohort?”Its open sessions (Draft or Scheduled) are cancelled with it, and their instructor payouts follow your cancellation setting (unpaid or waived). Completed sessions are not changed. Confirmed registrants get one cancellation email for the cohort. The confirmation tells you how many sessions will be cancelled before you confirm. See Cancelling a Session or Cohort.
Why can’t I change a completed or cancelled class?
Section titled “Why can’t I change a completed or cancelled class?”Completed and cancelled sessions and cohorts are read-only, attendance included, so the record of what happened stays as it was. A completed class can be reopened: staff with the Edit Events permission can reopen sessions and cohorts, and a session’s instructor can reopen their own session. A cancelled class is final. Every session of a cancelled cohort is locked too, and no one can register or be comped into it. If a class was finished while you had it open, your save is not applied and the page switches to read-only. See Completed and Cancelled Classes Are Read-Only.
How do I archive old events?
Section titled “How do I archive old events?”Open the status menu at the top of the event page, choose Archive…, click Save, and confirm. This hides the event from members and removes door access granted through it, while preserving the data.
