Collected Tax Report
The Collected Tax report shows how much tax your makerspace has collected on on-platform sales, grouped the way a filing needs it: by filing period, by jurisdiction, by currency, and by tax regime. It’s read-only — it summarizes the tax already recorded on your paid orders and never changes anything.
It includes tax from one-time purchases (store, events and classes) and from memberships: signups, renewals and membership add-ons. Tax on memberships charged before this was recorded has been added from your payment history, together with any refunds already made on those charges.

What the Report Shows
Section titled “What the Report Shows”Each row is one group of collected tax, broken out by the dimensions a filing cares about:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Period | The filing period — a month (2026-04) or a quarter (2026-Q2), depending on the period type you choose. |
| Jurisdiction | The country, and the state or province when the tax is sub-national (for example, US — CA). |
| Regime | The kind of tax — Sales Tax, VAT, or GST. |
| Currency | The currency the tax was collected in. Amounts are never added together across different currencies — each currency is its own set of rows. |
| Registration | The registration status you set for that jurisdiction in Tax settings — Registered, Pending, or Not Registered. |
| Taxable Base | The total amount that was taxed, net of refunds. |
| Collected Tax | The total tax collected, net of refunds. |
Net of reversals
Section titled “Net of reversals”The amounts in this report are net of reversals. When an order is refunded or voided, the tax that was reversed is subtracted from the total automatically. You see the real amount left in your hands, not the gross before refunds.
Because refunds are subtracted, a period can show a negative Collected Tax figure — for example, if you refunded orders from an earlier period during the period you’re looking at. That’s expected, and the report shows it as a negative number rather than hiding it.
One total per currency
Section titled “One total per currency”Tax collected in different currencies is kept apart. The report never sums U.S. dollars together with, say, Canadian dollars into a single total — each currency gets its own rows so the figures stay meaningful for filing.
Filters
Section titled “Filters”| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| From period / To period | Required. The first and last filing months to include (inclusive). |
| Period type | Monthly groups by calendar month; Quarterly folds three months into a quarter (2026-Q2). |
| Country | Optional. Limit to a single country. |
| State/Province | Optional. Limit to a single state or province. Only shown when the selected country has sub-national jurisdictions to choose from. |
| Currency | Optional. Limit to a single currency. |
The Country and State/Province lists cover every jurisdiction you have collected tax in — not just the ones you have set up on the Tax Jurisdictions page. A jurisdiction you collected in without registering still appears here (it shows as Not registered in the table), so you can isolate it and export it on its own. Clear a filter back to All to see the full list again.
Exporting to CSV
Section titled “Exporting to CSV”Click Export CSV to download a filing-ready spreadsheet of the report. The export uses the same filters as the on-screen view, and the figures reconcile exactly to what’s on screen — same net-of-reversals totals, same per-currency grouping. The exported file is named after the period range, period type, and any jurisdiction or currency filter you applied, so multiple exports drop into a folder without overwriting each other.
The CSV reports tax amounts as whole-number minor units (for example, cents) alongside the currency code, which is the form most accounting tools expect. Each export also carries the same filing-input note as the on-screen report.
The CSV breaks the tax figure into three columns so you can tie it to your own records: gross collected (tax charged on paid orders), reversed (tax handed back on refunds and voids, shown as a negative number), and collected (the net, which is what the on-screen report shows). Gross plus reversed always equals collected on every row.
CSV export requires the Run Reports permission. Viewing the report on screen only requires View Reports, so view-only auditors can read it without being able to download.
Empty State
Section titled “Empty State”If no tax was collected in the period and jurisdiction you selected, the report shows an empty state instead of a table. Try a wider period range or a different jurisdiction. A period that fully refunds its own charges nets to zero rather than disappearing — the empty state appears only when there was genuinely no collected tax to summarize.
Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”| Permission | Required for |
|---|---|
View Reports (view_reports) | Viewing the report on screen |
Run Reports (run_reports) | Exporting to CSV |
| Tax Reports plan feature | The report is available on plans that include Tax Reports |
| Tax Export plan feature | The CSV export is available on plans that include Tax Export |
If your plan doesn’t include a tax capability, you’ll see an upgrade prompt rather than an error. The report itself is gated by Tax Reports, and the CSV download is gated separately by Tax Export — a plan can include the on-screen report without the export. See the Reports Overview → Permissions for how the two report permissions are assigned.
Data Scope
Section titled “Data Scope”The report is automatically scoped to your makerspace. You can never see another makerspace’s collected tax, even if you hold a Platform Admin role for another tenant — the scoping happens on the server.
- Filing quarterly? Switch Period type to Quarterly so the periods
line up with a quarterly sales-tax cadence (
2026-Q1,2026-Q2, …) instead of showing three separate months. - Negative total? That’s a period where refunds outweighed new collections — usually because you refunded older orders. It’s real, not a bug.
- Registration column says Not Registered? You’re seeing tax that was collected in a jurisdiction you haven’t marked as registered. Review it against your tax settings and your own obligations.
