Links in Makerspace Emails

Some emails from your makerspace are sent through MakerVera’s own email address. When a link in one of those emails goes to a website outside MakerVera, it first opens a page titled You’re leaving MakerVera.

Your makerspace wrote the email, but it came from a MakerVera address. The leaving page makes it clear that the link goes somewhere MakerVera doesn’t control, so a message can’t trick you into thinking an outside website is part of MakerVera.

These emails also start with a line such as “Sent by Your Makerspace via MakerVera. MakerVera did not write this message.”

The page never opens the website for you. Nothing happens until you click Continue.

The link was incomplete or wasn’t a normal web address, so the page doesn’t offer a way to continue. Ask your makerspace for the correct link.

  • Links to MakerVera itself, such as your profile or an event page, open directly.
  • Email links (mailto:) open your email app as usual.
  • If your makerspace sends email from its own domain (for example notify@yourmakerspace.org), its links open directly too.

In emails sent from MakerVera’s address, images hosted outside MakerVera are removed. If an email mentions a picture you can’t see, that’s why. The text of the email is unchanged.
