Operating Hours

MakerVera lets you set operating hours at three levels — your whole facility, each workspace, and individual equipment. Lower levels inherit from higher ones by default, so you only edit hours where they actually differ.
The three levels
Section titled “The three levels”- Facility (business hours) — the default hours for your makerspace. Set these in Admin > Settings > Operations > Business Hours.
- Workspace — a workspace (e.g. the Woodshop) can follow the facility hours or set its own. Edit on the workspace’s Settings tab.
- Equipment — a machine can follow its workspace’s hours or set its own. Edit on the equipment’s Settings tab.
Hours resolve from the most specific level up: equipment uses its own hours if set, otherwise its workspace’s, otherwise the facility’s.
Inherit vs. custom
Section titled “Inherit vs. custom”Each workspace and piece of equipment has an Inherit / Custom toggle:
- Inherit — follow the parent’s hours. The editor shows a read-only preview of the hours being inherited (the workspace’s hours for equipment, or the facility’s for a workspace). This is the default.
- Custom — set this resource’s own schedule. Switching back to Inherit keeps your custom schedule saved, so you can flip between them without re-entering times.
The facility level has no parent, so it has no Inherit option — it always defines its own hours.
Editing a schedule
Section titled “Editing a schedule”The hours editor shows one row per day:
- Set an open and close time for each day the resource is open.
- Mark a day closed to remove its times.
- Use Copy Mon to all to apply Monday’s hours to every other day, then adjust the exceptions.
Presets
Section titled “Presets”Three preset buttons fill the whole week in one click:
- Business (9–5, Mon–Fri) — weekday business hours, weekends closed.
- Maker (10–10, daily) — long hours every day.
- 24/7 — always open.
Apply a preset as a starting point, then tweak individual days.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”The close time for each open day must be after its open time, or the editor flags the row and blocks saving. Once your schedule is valid, save the resource (or, for the facility, save the Business Hours page) to apply it.
Operating hours feed booking availability — members can only reserve a workspace or piece of equipment during the hours it resolves to.
