Sales Tax at Checkout
Ce contenu n’est pas encore disponible dans votre langue.
MakerVera does not collect or remit sales tax at checkout. No sales tax is added to memberships, subscriptions, store items, event registrations, or gift cards when a member pays. Your makerspace is the merchant of record, so handling any sales tax that applies to your sales is up to you.
What members see
Section titled “What members see”At checkout, the price a member is shown is the price they pay — there is no separate tax line added at the payment step, and the displayed total always matches the amount charged. The checkout summary includes a short note making this clear:
Your makerspace is responsible for any applicable sales tax.
Members never hit a tax-related error or a “contact the makerspace” message for a tax reason, because no tax calculation runs during a purchase.
What this means for your makerspace
Section titled “What this means for your makerspace”Because MakerVera doesn’t collect tax on your behalf, you are responsible for whatever sales-tax obligations apply to your makerspace — registering where you’re required to, and reporting and remitting tax through your own accounting process.
| Topic | Where it lands |
|---|---|
| Sales tax on a purchase | Not added by MakerVera. The member pays the listed price. |
| Who remits tax | Your makerspace, as the merchant of record, through your own bookkeeping. |
| The product “Taxable” toggle | Records whether an item is taxable for your own reporting. It does not add tax at checkout today. Gift cards are always non-taxable. |
Gift cards and donations
Section titled “Gift cards and donations”Gift cards are stored value, not a taxable good, so they were never taxed at purchase. Donations aren’t taxed either. Nothing changes for these — they remain non-taxable, and a gift card that fully covers an order is charged the item price only, with no extra fees added.
